Tampa Bay Sports Cars is extremely proud to present, without question, one of the rarest and most desirable Porsches to have ever graced our showroom. This is one of a very few U.S. specification, true 1965 Porsche 912s known to exist according to the 912 registry. It recently completed a beautiful restoration, and is now ready for a new home with the most discriminating collector or enthusiast. The reason this car is rarely seen in the U.S. are simple: The 1965 Porsche 912 was announced in April 1965 and was presented as a "European type" available only to the old continent dealer network, as the 356 C and SC were designated as the 1965 U.S. Porsche models. The earliest 912s were picked up by Americans at the Porsche factory or imported directly to Porsche of American Corp. in Teaneck, New Jersey. There are telling differences to determine this car is a true 1965 U.S. spec model: it has four-hole horns grilles, which were used only in 1965, its speedometer is in M.P.H., it has the painted dash in the style of a 356 with three gauges. 1966 models began being built in September, meaning it is also certainly one of the last 1965s ever built. The rare opportunity to own this historical piece of Porsche legacy is sure to pass quickly. Vintage Porsches are among the hottest collectible cars on the market today and this one is among the rarest for offer anywhere. While this is one of the rarest 912s in existence, any Porsche 912 is exceedingly rare with less than half the amount produced than the highly sought after 356.
